Help us help Enrique go through Stem Cell Therapy

My name is Enrique Alves and I was born in the maternity of São Carlos – SP, Brazil on the 2nd of October 2011 at 20:15. Due to the good pregnancy, a natural birth would be the best option for us. However, there were complications and an emergency cesarean was necessary. After my birth, I was transferred to the Neo Natal ICU of São Carlos Hospital. During my first night I had convulsive crisis and I was then medicated and sedated. I had to remain in an induced coma for twenty-six days and, after that, I spent fourteen more days in the ICU to learn how to breathe without any machine aid. I was then sixteen days under observation in the pediatrics sector at a hospital in São Carlos.

 

I was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and, because of the difficulty I had to swallow, I had to go under a gastrostomy surgery. Also, because of neuromuscular complications, I developed a scoliosis and I have to wear bracing trunk. From birth, I daily take anticonvulsants and in addition to the medication, I need the monitoring of a neurologist, physical therapists, speech therapists and occupational therapy.
